About the Jindi Early Years program.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence supports families in the local Mernda area with children aged 0-5 years. We aim to build parent capacity to improve parent-child relationship and family functioning so children can thrive. We deliver a range of programs for families at the Jindi Family & Community Centre that include individual support for parents as well as supported playgroup sessions and a variety of parenting programs.

We kindly as that you please complete the enquiry form to express your interest in participating in the Jindi Early Years services. 

Families will receive confirmation of their place along with a registration form. If you need support to complete the registration form, our staff can make an appointment with you to complete this.  Please note we request that families reside in Mernda to participate in our programs.

The Brotherhood’s Jindi Early Years Program is committed to using the personal information you provide us in a responsible and meaningful way.

So that Jindi staff can get in touch with you about the program, this form collects information about your needs and goals, your contact details and details about your child. This information will be sent to the Brotherhood’s Jindi Early Years Program staff who will follow up with you.

If you do enrol, the Brotherhood may then store this data in their system. Your information will not be shared with anyone outside of the Brotherhood without your permission, unless required to do so by law.

Type of support

The description of each type of programs and support available is in the table below. Read carefully, and then select the type/types of support you would like to access by answering the questions below. Pease note that all sessions occur during the school terms and break during the school holidays.

A music and movement group for parents and their children aged 0-5 to learn and grow together through songs, rhymes, movement and musical instruments.

A supported playgroup for parents and their children aged 0-5 to learn and grow together through play-based activities.
Little Learners
Group Based Playgroup

Tuesday 1.00pm - 2.00pm

A school readiness playgroup for 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten aged children to support skills in communication, wellbeing, social and emotional development in a fun play-based environment.
Free to Be Me

Wednesdays 10.30am – 11.30am

An inclusive supported playgroup for parents of children aged 0-5 who have additional needs. Opportunities for families to connect to local support services.
Tuning into Kids
Parenting  Program

An 6 week evidence based parenting program for parents and carers that will help parents support their child to develop emotional intelligence which builds resilience, conflict resolution skills and promotes wellbeing. (Please note child care is not offered for these sessions)
Individual Support Program
Appointment Based Service -

By appointment – Wednesdays and Thursdays
A specialist practitioner to provide short term support to parents who have children aged 0-5. Support is offered for up to 5 sessions to focus on parenting goals and connect families to community services.
Preparing for Prep Program

By appointment

Appointment based support for families to provide practical support to discuss primary school options and prepare for children entering into primary school.
